Tradition and progress

1999/2000 completely renovated, the Central Hotel Kaiserhof can look back at a long tradition of interesting guests. As one of the few hotels still to be operated by the owners themselves, the considerate service, quality and reliability are the most important aims. It is no surprise that our guests often become regulars. A great deal of famous personalities from show business, culture, politics, nobility and the business world are amongst our regular guests.

"Sissi" – Room 48

Romy Schneider was always a sensational regular guest here in “her” room, number 48, and the then Federal Chancellor Prof. Erhard held discussions with his finance minister here until deep in the night.

Regular guests here included Herbert von Karajan, Marika Rökk, Caterina Valente, Heinz Ehrhardt and Peter Frankenfeld. An extract from the list of further VIPs which we have been happy to accommodate: Peter Alexander, Leonard Bernstein, Conny Froboeß, Marcel Marceau, Charlie Rivel, Pierre Brice, Hardy Krüger, Hans Söhnker, Gunther Philipp and many others.

Up to today well known names such as Otto Sander, Pina Bausch, Eva Matthes, Benno Führmann and many others from politics and nobility are on out reservation list.

However to us every guest is king, not just the celebrities.

Short History

As the location of the Central Hotel since 1870, the current building was constructed in 1915 and was only the second in Hanover that was built with a steel structure. Badly damaged after an air raid in 1943, the hotel was soon rebuilt, and at first served as accommodation for the allies. At the beginning of the fifties the hotel operations were resumed.

After being taken over by married couple Franziska and Wilhelm Rüter in 1968, over a number of years it was completely refurbished and renovated. Now the second generation of the owning family, Birgitt and Hermann Rüter are in charge, and with the successful reorganisation of the hotel and the gastronomy facilities, they have set the course for the new millennium.
